In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla until well combined.
Cut the stale bread into thick sticks and dip them into the mixture and after in the brown sugar, until evenly coated.
Heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
Fry the bread sticks for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crisp on the outside.
Serve immediately with chocolate sauce or chocolate spread for dipping.
